Dulcy's been committed to Florida since last year, so this isn't surprising. I'll be more interested to see if she defers and stays at WCC through 2028, or goes to Florida for a year and then returns to WCC to train for LA without the distraction of NCAA.

Looks like she is going to defer until 2028 instead of go for one year then defer the Olympic year.

I low-key believe she potentially going the Laurie Hernandez route Esp if she is successful with second olympics

I was so confused when I saw you say "second Olympics" until I remembered... she certainly didn't have the Hernandez debut Olympics.

You are only allowed to defer a certain amount of years so holding off protects her full eligibility just in case.

It's 1 year you can defer and then the clock starts counting.
They made an exception for 2020 Olympics because of the pandemic postponement.
If you defer for 2 years, one of those years eats a year of eligibility.

Cal picked up a whole bunch of signings that either previous committed elsewhere or hadn't committed. No surprising, given how many 2026 recruits bailed after the Howells left. Most notable are Canadian Madison Hajjar (who will join in January), and Adilenne Holt, who originally committed to Penn.

wow, ballsy! I guess we'll see how she does in 2026 against the likes of Crain, Moreau, and anyone else from the current crop who has a similar glow-up. The five-person team next year will be an interesting bit of calculus.

This is an interesting contrast, where Hezley didnt sign at all, but Dulcy did sign and defer. Not sure if at the end of the day one is better than the other? I guess technically, Hezley NCAA clock doesnt start until she signs, while Dulcy clock has started and is using a redshirt year? Idk exactly

Can Dulcy start taking classes even if she doesn't join the team--either because she functions best when she has something besides just gymnastics in her life, or because she has career/grad school ambitions that mean she doesn't want to wait to start her college education completely?

She’d have to enroll in order to take classes I’m sure.

I don’t think it’s a bad idea. In GB it’s normal for elites to finish their high school education then wait a couple of years before beginning studying for a degree. Often that’s when the largest improvement in their gymnastics happens because suddenly they aren’t trying to juggle training and education anymore. Alice Kinsella is a very good example of this.
