Following Day 1, the highest scoring team (259.00) is Asher Hong, Yul Moldauer, Fred Richard, Khoi Young, and Paul Juda. Thank you to Spencer at the Balance Beam Situation for calculating the scores from Day 1!

Is this the first time for men with an all non caucasian top 3 at nationals? Though without bonuses I guess Colt Walker should have won Nationals. not sure what I feel about the bonuses since technically Colt has the highest US score this year.

Should be by the end of the day.

I am sure the selection committee is looking closely at the data because the World Team is supposed to be selected by non-bonus results only.
The Pan Am Games team is also going to be announced but bonus can be used to pick that team.

NBC and USAG might want to make it a bigger deal by doing it during a broadcast, right?

Walker won’t be on the Antwerp team. And they aren’t going to take Steve for the one event.

I get the point of the bonus but it does skew the results so that just looking at scores you are like USA can compete with the best! But…oh wait.

Though then the question is why didn’t Colt do anything that got bonus? Is he topped out?

I haven’t dug down into the bonus thing. But Ono shared this last year:

I don’t know but you’re probably right. I tried to find more about the bonus and that’s all i’ve found.
