Well, at least having Brassart will give them a slightly better chance of getting a +1 spot. I figured she was also out when they didn’t include her on the team that competed at the first German trial.

Oh no…that is going to hurt their scoring potential drastically and also, that is going to be hard to recover in time for Paris.

According to Lauren even though Hillary Heron qualified on all 4 apparatus she won’t be able to qualify to the Olympics as an all-arounder even if she meets the necessary score.

Which is correct, because she did not qualify as an all arounder via Continentals. She qualified as an event specialist, she just happened to qualify on all 4 events due to multiple withdrawls.

I hope moving forward they change, at least for WAG, the number of World Cup apparatus slots and reallocate to continental AAers.
I wouldn’t mind it moving from 8 athlete per event to 4 athletes.

I think ideally world cups would have enough competitors that if someone qualified on all 4 they get to compete in the all-around and for an all-around spot because they’ve proven their capabilities even if they had an off day or an injury at continental champs. Even this year I’m pretty sure Heron has beaten the Pan Am qualifying score multiple times at world cups so I don’t really think it makes sense to exclude her from consideration. It’s going to be hugely controversial if she does get the score for the Olympics but then doesn’t end up being able to go.

But she qualified as an individual apparatus specialist, not all arounder.

It’s like when Turkey qualified 4 individual men to Tokyo but were unable to participate in the team competition.

Frankly I think it is dumb that if you qualify sufficient apparatus (individual) or team members to compete in a division that you don’t also get to count scores towards it

Say Heron has an awesome qualifying round and gets a score in the top 24 but can’t compete AA finals. How is that fair?

Let alone Olympic qualification.

Allowing the scores to count won’t add any work or routines.

I’m not sure it is correct as per the rules though. The Technical Regulations specify that apparatus gymnasts who may have qualified on all the apparatus can qualify for the AA final, so unless there’s a provision I’m not aware of which explicitly says otherwise I would assume they are eligible for Olympic quotas based on the same rankings.

Cereghetti has withdrawn due to a foot injury.

The latest update to the nominative registration is also without Stella Diaz (Puerto Rico) who has not yet been replaced. Next in line would be Yamilet Pena (Dominican Republic)

Heron qualifying to beam now will be interesting because now she needs to replace either Tina Zelcic CRO or Marta Pihan Kuleska POL in group 2 because group 1 (where Chan was drawn) is in the same subdivision and start on floor whereas group 2 starts on beam, so Heron can’t do beam in rotation 4 because she will be on bars.

Unless they juse add Heron to the beam group and there will be five gymnasts instead of 4

Likely because Panama already has 2 AA athletes qualified via Continentals and AA was capped at 2 per NOC.

That’s gotta by why Heron can’t count in the AA.
If she was from a NOC that had 1 or 0 athletes then she probably would be allowed to count.

Only explanation I can think of.
