The USA armed forces have their own service academies for undergrad education. They all have NCAA teams.

Okay, that makes sense, but why does the MILITARY have a GYMNASTICS team

In MAG, Air Force Academy, Army, and Navy all have gymnastics teams at their respective colleges. Students take academic courses but are also part of the military.
WAG also has a program at the Air Force Academy.

They are accredited universities in the United States and the athletic programs are part of division 1 in NCAA.
