I mean, after the shitshows we’ve seen on fx today I guess it’s almost comprehensible that somebody would show up with good form and a plan and you’d lose it and throw your principles down the drain

  1. United States 167.263
  2. Brazil 163.563
  3. Japan 162.564
  4. China 162.064
  5. France 161.428
  6. Canada 159.661
  7. Netherlands 159.396
  8. Australia 156.095
  9. Belgium 156.063
  10. Germany 155.664

At least the instagram streamer had the same priorities I had. Even if it was sideways.

Okay, since we’re between rounds, did anyone see DJDS today? Based on the scores it looks like the usual mix of hits and misses.

Fell on BB, OOB on FX, was OK on UB but not likely to be in the final, didn’t see the VT

  1. Rebeca Andrade BRA 57.332
  2. Shilese Jones USA 55.766
  3. Jade Carey USA 55.132
  4. Ou Yushan CHN 54.466
  5. Miyata Shoko JPN 54.166
  6. Naomi Visser NED 54.165
  7. Flavia Saraiva BRA 54.133
  8. Ellie Black CAN 54.131

I downloaded instagram on my phone and made a burner account which I will delete after sub 10. Much more civilised watching with the phone sideways.

I’ve sort of given up on hoping she’ll put it all together in a big competition, and have resorted to planning to be thrilled if and when she ever does.

So how would a healthy Biles have done today?

15.1 vault
14.4 bars?
14.0 beam with a hit?
14.5 floor?

She’d have beaten Andrade, but by less than a point.

I can’t believe we have two full subs left to go. They’re going to have to pump pro plus in gas form into the arena.

I mean fx has some room for improvement, but it can also be worse. BB could be better, definitely. UB I guess she’ll connect the whole sequence so a little D-score bump, she’s pretty reliable there. VT was actually pretty good, she could do a better landing but I’d take this any day.

Wait, are you in the UK now? Able to go to any competition?

Lower end of the AA final with two subs to go:
  1. Lee Yunseo (KOR) 51.833
  2. Romi Brown (AUS) 51.731
  3. Maisa Kuusikko (FIN) 51.231
  4. Maellyse Brassart (BEL) 50.699
  5. Karina Schoenmaier (GER) 50.633
  6. Natalia Escalera (MEX) 50.365
  7. Anna Lena Koenig (GER) 49.999
You’d assume two Italians and two Brits, so the bottom four are probably out - so no Germany in the AA final, and if Seitz gets bumped from bars no finals at all. Egypt, Taiwan and Austria are the other teams left, plus three groups of individuals.
