In the Netherlands, they changed the “no shorts” rule a few years ago for every other level than elite. One of the reasons was to stimulate the older gymnasts to continue the sport and at least not retire because of (stupid) clothing rules that made them feel insecure. You can chose to wear a black one or match the color of your leo.
I’m so happy they changed this and you see gymnasts both with shorts and without. Having the option to chose is wonderful
