I went back and read the 2024 US Classics and nationals threads. Our consensus was by adding back all the difficulty and having blah choreo, Simone risked Rebecca being able to beat her if she couldn't control her landings.

Yes I agree. I think also in the latter part of her career when she was really pushing the difficulty, she was just too anxious to get to the next tumble to get into the dance aspect. I don’t think she particularly lacks dance ability, but in a competitive floor routine, dance is just something to get throughI've never gotten the impression that Simone even likes floor, just that she happens to be very good at tumbling. She phones in the choreo, chooses crap music, and can't be bothered with clean landings. I don't blame her... But when compared to somebody like Chiles who clearly loves to perform and stands by her personal [questionable??] choices with certainty... I don't see that from Simone at all
Re-reading those threads would be hard. If any of Skye, Shilese and possibly Kayla, had not been injured (or if Jade had not gotten the flu in Paris) the Olympic team would have been different and this bronze medal debacle could have been avoided.I went back and read the 2024 US Classics and nationals threads.

Honestly, I felt her choreo was recycled from 2018 onwards.I felt that Simone's choreo was basically just dialling it in by Paris - with a lot of recycled bits from previous routines. It was underwhelming - but then Simone's fx has always been all about the extraordinary tumbling.
I will forever be grateful to Mykayla Skinner for giving me a deeper understanding of my own cultural identity. I spent part of my childhood in Glasgow, and my mum is Irish. But I just really don’t care. I tried to, but I just don’t. If she’d destroyed Kalinka, however, I’d have destroyed her.A for effort, F for f***ed up her geography, C for cultural appropriation. "Just" better at tumbling? That is quite an understatement.Simone was just better at tumbling.

There you go, she was actually challenging British people of Irish descent to ask complex questions of our cultural experience. Its taken me a decade to understand what a gift that routine truly was.I will forever be grateful to Mykayla Skinner for giving me a deeper understanding of my own cultural identity. I remember following Mr and Mrs Skinner on social media as they documented their visit to Scotland and thinking this could genuinely be a Sacha Baron Cohen creation. There you go, she was actually challenging British people of Irish descent to ask complex questions of our cultural experience.
