Oh my god the German leo’s. What were they thinking? It’s literally a spider-man halloween costume.

Thank you. So close.

I have Rebecca’s floor a 7.7E. Il assuming they went higher…?!

Yeah that’s too high. I do feel like the judges got looser as the subdivisions went on. I wouldn’t bank on GBR holding onto 2nd or even a medal. China are gonna come roaring back and it was pretty tight between 2nd and 6th right?

They might get a little boost just for rotating with USA. One can only hope, anyway. My bet is that Italy and China will come back stronger, mind you. Brazil may be in trouble if Flavia can’t do all events in TF. Or France might actually get it together, who knows? It should be exciting to watch.

I disagree. Let me guess, you deducted 0.3 for the step on both landings right?

That first one was still in the 0.1 region, I feel.

And there’s nothing to deduct for artistry, in my opinion, btw. That’s a great exercise in terms of dance and performance.

We’ve been speculating since 2015 Downie/Tinkler days who would compete the first British Amanar. It would be quite funny if it ended up being Kinsella given how her DTY looked when she started. Kinsella’s DTY was looking excellent at CWG (she finished the twists early and had a slight flare out) but I think it’s degraded since then. Props to her for all the vaulting improvements though. Actually I’m impressed at how she has improved on all events over the years. One of my favourite qualities in a gymnast is their willingness/ability to continually work on their weaknesses and change their routines as required.

She should work on improving her DTY E Score by 0.4 instead of this, tbh…

No one should be throwing an Amanar when their DTY regularly scores 8.6 E.

The leg separation on her pre-flight seems to be larger of late.

Normally I’d agree with you, but she got a 9.266 E score yesterday, so hey why not?

Wow! Are there any videos? I’ve only managed to see snippets so far. Her podium DTY wasn’t 9.2, that’s for sure.

It’s a nice vault but I think the judges got a little sleepy TBH.
Thanks! Yeah I have a 9.1. You have to either ignore the leg sep on the table, or the pike down, to get that at a 9.3.

Is the Amanar even worth doing anymore? Literally no one is going to do one at these World Championships. The D score advantage was much bigger back when the US could have a whole rotation of them.

Unless you can minimize the deductions on an Amanar to make it worthwhile, the 5.4 vs 5.0 differential isn’t worth the risk like it used to be at 6.5 vs 5.8.
A solid DTY will get 9.2/9.3 and maybe flirt into 9.4 land. Unless you can do an Amanar with similar deductions it is not worth the chance of maybe sitting down the vault if you are underrotated.

If you are a Simone Biles and can get a huge E score on an Amanar by pretty much sticking the landing, then it is worth it.

The thing with Simone was that an Amanar was so easy for her, she would have no E Score savings by downgrading to a DTY. For 99% of athletes, that’s just not the case. There’s always some E Score sacrifice by upgrading; it just becomes a balance of calculating the payoff.

Although I must say that some Chuso’s vs. DLOs can improve on the execution. Jess Gadirova and Jade Carey being good examples.
