OU floor was terrible. They got some gifts and covered mistakes well, but yuck. The first 4 looked like they suffered from jello legs. As a floor coach, I'm familiar with the issue 😄. Thankfully, Jo and Faith saved it at the end.

Well, after watching all 8 meets televised yesterday and today, I think it's safe to say judging hasn't gotten any better or more consistent this year. Also, possibly interesting note: none of the "10s" from Big Tens or SECs received 10s from all four judges.

Just catching up on some of yesterday's meets. Not surprised that LSU came out first in SEC. OU has looked less than invincible all year; they've had trouble finding their landings all season and that can be costly. I'm a bit surprised that Florida ended up third, and I'm not entirely sure it was warranted, but I guess beam was a hard place to finish last night. I didn't love the 10 fest. That said, if they were willing to give out that many, why not give one to Davis, ffs?

UCLA looked great. Again, I wasn't sold on all the 10s, but I'll take the one for Moors.

I think that's it's better than the past two years, when we saw 10s for non-stuck landings. Still lots of room for improvement though.

The thing that was baffling about Oklahoma scoring was that the mistakes by their gymnasts were being deducted, even if not enough.

So why the need for 3 completely egregious/impossible scores (Sievers, Torres on bars, and Fatta on floor)? That’s when it feels like they were purposely being held up.

The shift to favorite for NCAA title has got to be LSU now. They have beaten Oklahoma twice.
Do we know what happened to Kaliya Lincoln? She didn't compete at all. You would think they would want her vault instead of either KJ or Zeiss. Possibly her floor over Cohen. Wonder if she was ill or injured.

I also think Oklahoma is not going to risk Siegfeldt on beam and put Wells back in. Possibly also replace Sievers with Pederson on floor.

It's like the judges decided that every mistake gets one tenth. A step on landing? 0.1. Underrotation and a step on landing? 0.1. Abandon your cast handstand halfway through and do an extra KCH? 0.1.

I agree that LSU is likely the favourite now. Arguably they have been for the latter half of the season, even if no one acknowledged it.

Ive said from the beginning, LSU is the favorite. This was supposed to be their year, not last year. They "stole" one last year. All the other teams (OU, UCLA, Florida) would have to have what would have to be considered now an uncharacteristic stuck night at nationals to beat them. Or LSU could pull an OU from last year (also unlikely, but its has obviously happened before!)

I agree, but I also think that LSU ended up with more seniors staying for this year than if they hadn’t won

No chance Sievers is taken off floor after 1 routine with short landings.
