We don’t have any reason to believe. Romania would need to give them accreditation, and they very rarely give accreditation to personal coaches even from Romania. It was just an amusing scenario that in theory could happen.

Nicolae Forminte (69 years old) is the new coordinating coach of the Romanian women's gymnastics team. Forminte returns to the Romanian Gymnastics Federation after the resignation of Corina Moroșan, who chose to leave her position following the scandal involving Camelia Voinea, one of the gymnastics team coaches.

After the departure of Camelia Moroșan, the one who managed to bring Romania its last medal at the Olympic Games in Paris, bronze through Ana Barbosu, the Romanian Gymnastics Federation quickly reoriented itself and installed a new coach.

This is Nicolae Forminte, one of the most important people in Romanian gymnastics. Forminte personally confirmed the agreement with the Federation.

"Yes, that's right! For now, the squad is to be formed and the technical team of coaches approved. The girls who are targeted to be part of the squad will receive the summons sent by the Federation," Nicolae Forminte said, according to orangesport.ro.

Forminte also spoke about how he will proceed in the case of athletes studying in the United States and announced where the next training camp could take place.

"We are not giving up on any girl. Regarding the training camp, there are two options that I can consider. It is Oneşti or Deva. However, since I don't know many people in Oneşti, and in Deva I could say that when I go to the City Hall or the County Council, it's like I'm in my living room, it will definitely be Deva," Nicolae Forminte said.

Forminte was the main team coach from 2005-2010, before quitting in 2010 when Belu & Bitang briefly came back for London. He returned as Romania's main coach again from 2016-2020, after that quad was a disaster he was replaced by Cosma (and a mishmash of other people, Sandu/Gogean era.) Now that they've driven away Kiens and Morosan, they're dragging Forminte out again to take over for a third time.

He used to coach Denisa Golgota, she quit gymnastics under Forminte. In October '25 he was speaking out against her in support of the FRG over the Voinea situation.
