Re-reading those threads would be hard. If any of Skye, Shilese and possibly Kayla, had not been injured (or if Jade had not gotten the flu in Paris) the Olympic team would have been different and this bronze medal debacle could have been avoided.

(I think most of us figured Skye or Shilese were going to be Olympians.)

Shilese’s injury was heartbreaking for me. She worked through her personal losses, left an awful coach, seemed to be thriving at PR, had a great Worlds, then that injury. In the right circumstances she could have been a two-time Olympian then. If she misses out on LA it will be terrible.

The Olympic team was going to be Biles, Lee, Blakely, Jones, and DiCello. Blakely would have won Carey's vault medal. Jones would have likely pushed Lee into a specialist role.

It’s such a horrendous mash up. It wouldn’t matter who you gave it to, no one could make that look good.

I wonder if Mykayla considers herself of Scottish and Irish heritage and that’s the reason for the weird mix?

Worlds were in Glasgow, Scotland in 2015. I think that was the reason for the Scottish mix.
Maybe Zito mixed up Ireland with Scotland?

There was always a question mark over that 5th spot - but I think Jade would have beaten Kayla.

Look at Jade's Night 2 Trials floor. That would have won gold in Paris.

Yes, I think the only locks were Simone and Shilese. One can make a good case for each of the others, but they weren't in the space where you're a default pick if you're healthy. Such a shame.
