It is, although in my roughly 6 seconds of googling I couldn't see anything written down anywhere about what constitutes 'new'. So not sure whether either the initial attacks by the US and Israel or the Iranian attacks on various Arab countries would be considered such or not. I've a cousin in Dubai who's busy watching the sky light up as we speak.

Though the precedent would appear to be you get 3 goes plus absorbing your territorial gains into your Olympic federation before we do anything, so maybe it'll be easiest for all concerned to fall back on that one.

I just googled as well and I could not even find anything about the Olympic truce only applying to „new“ conflicts. In theory, all countries should stop fighting even existing wars for that time period.

Realistically, the US will not be punished, because the next Summer Olympics are in the US. It’s like crimea in that respect.
Pakistan/afghanistan is interesting to me, but I would not expect anything to happen.
