There are very obvious reasons why athletes are deterred from challenging conflicts of interest, even in federations that don’t have a documented abuse problem. The fact that people with no skin in the game make more of it than people with lots of skin in the game tells us nothing at all.

I do actually think it’s legit for Alice to be on both teams, but the selection criteria and process itself are both unnecessarily brutal and it would be BGs own fault if she (or anyone else) weren’t able to power through all of it plus worlds.

Why wouldn’t they? We’re talking about national level athletes. It’s not like they are overflowing with them. It’s just Alice at the moment. As I mentioned, a few years ago, Charlie Fellows moved there from City of Liverpool

I think the team entry deadline for Euros has passed now hasn’t it? Which would mean yes as teams, but they still have some individuals who would qualify through the world cup route if the ban were lifted. Obviously that would still leave the visa question.

So are Russia officially out of Worlds?
Yes and no.

Russia cannot send a full team to Worlds.
However if the ban is lifted before Worlds, 4 Russian athletes would qualify for individual events based on World Cup rankings.
VT: Listunova (7th), Semukhina (15th)
UB: Listunova (4th), Minaeva (9th)
BB: Urasova (4th), Listunov (33rd) ***
FX: Minaeva (6th), Urasova (14th)

So they would qualify as specialists for those individual events.

***Hungary, Netherlands, Germany, and France hold 14 of the top 32 spots and going to qualify to Worlds and Romania, Finland, Ukraine, Norway have 6 spots above Listunova and there is a good chance 1-3 of these countries will qualify to Worlds.

There’s a Guardian and a RAFIKI review in this thread:

Olga (2021) film Women’s Gymn
I wasn’t quite sure where to put this because I didn’t want to disrupt the UKR/RUS/Gymnastics thread. Last night I went to see the film Olga. Many UK cinemas ran preview screenings at the weekend as a fundraiser for UKR charities. Filming began in 2019 but was interrupted by the pandemic and completed in the summer of 2020. The film did well on the the 2021 film festival circuit and it’s even more poignant given current events. Olga tells the story of a 15 year old UKR WAG who is sent to train…
Hopefully it will be on All 4 (films aren’t always available) for catch up viewing given the broadcast time.
