I suspect Euros might be more likely than CWG for Becky, if BG find they can’t do without her. Less platform there.

It always smelt like a “retirement”.

I was wondering when the Whyte review was due. Not long now.

That’s a difficult read.

WRT the CWG selection policy, the English and British both being designated selection events and neither having done any 2022 competitions internationally confirms what we thought about Becky and Alice, I’d say. Hope it doesn’t bite BG on the arse.

They also say the selection panel will take into account the proximity of Euros. I think that’s an attempt to keep their options open.

I don’t like the bit about giving experience to gymnasts to benefit them in future competitions. It smacks of ageism to me. Experience should be earned. There are opportunities in smaller competitions for experience gifts. I feel it’s just another way to justify taking who they want regardless.

I have heard BG already have the Whyte review so they can formulate a response and way forward reply.

Most of it seems to be drafted to give as wide a discretion as possible. I think in this case it means don’t expect anything if you’re an elderly specialist.

For this year specifically, they have so many competitions and such a relatively small pool that just keeping everyone healthy enough to be able to put out full, strong teams is going to be a challenge in itself. That’s why it’s a concern that there are selection policies leading gymnasts to feel they need to do AA in March even when clearly not ready/ill.

It was removed I think because the time expired. Most stuff goes from there after a few months. They were promoting a new series fairly recently and filming at the olympics, I believe.

Italy looks to be Great Britain’s biggest competition at Europeans
(haven’t seen Belgium yet this season, they should be strong too)
So it will be interesting to see what they do.
Clearly it will be Maggio, Andreoli, Asia, Alice, Villa as the five.
GBR will need to send A squad if they want to win their first team title.

Claudia posted some pictures from a (final?) CWG trial today, which at least tells us something:

Looks like the A Squad, minus the Downies, were all at the CWG trial.

Not totally WAG, but my facebook has been showing me lots of Nile Wilson videos. They are lots of fun challenges and stuff but dang, my American ears only understand about half of what he says. It is like he swallows half his letters.

Looks like the Downies were there as well (photo probably a couple of days old).

I’ve been watching a few of these lately. It’s fun to see them challenge themselves, particularly with some WAG skills. The beam marathon was intense and impressive (well athletically, a few more tech checks would have been a big help!).

Kelly Simm is on the roster for the Varna World Challenge Cup.
I am amazed at her longevity, going into a 3rd quad and not being named to the Olympics.
She still continues to compete, so clearly loves the sport.

Interesting. I wonder if the trials were for both CWG and Euros? I think the CWG team is decided very soon- maybe even this week (although probably not to the public yet).
