Great set. Although I think it’s time to ditch the uprise Hindorff. Her ass is barely scraping over the bar it’s a clear 0.3 amplitude.

I think the errors are me reading gymdata wrong, think it’s actually 5.7/14.25.

All scores from Gymdata, so trusting they are correct.

Georgia Mae Fenton 55.100
Ondine Achampong 55.050
Poppy Stickler 51.750
Ruby Evans 51.650
Mali Morgan 50.600

Stickler, Evans and Morgan are 1-2-3 for the Welsh competition.

Not sure how real those beam scores are.

Alice Kinsella did three events and looks to have had three falls. Becky did beam (12.85) as well as bars. As has already been said Jennifer Gadirova only did beam, again (11.000), and Jessica didn’t compete.

So, now we’ve had a public trial, the next question is how much does it matter. Achampong and Fenton are surely going if it matters at all, but that is no great surprise. A hit bars routine has to be good for Becky’s chances. Kinsella did much better at the English championships, unless there’s something wrong I think you still take her.

The big question mark is the Gadirovas. They haven’t shown anything in competition so far this year, but is that just that they’ve already done enough to be selected at Lilleshall?

Yikes.

If her floor isn’t ready, you’d take a mid 14 on bars from Becky over Jen.

Is Jess injured or just “I’ve done enough already so i’m not competing here”?

There’s some suggestion on Twitter that Jess is injured, but no more information than that.

You never know with Alice if its just one of those days where a single mistake gets into her head. Based on what we have so far, it feels like the Gadirovas are the bigger yikes.

They should rest both of them in that case. Jen seems to have been injured for at least a year.

More, possibly? Jen didn’t do 2021 Euros because of injury either, although I’m not sure if it was the same thing that was limiting her participation in 2022.

How in the F did I miss this?

If you BANISH that (horrendous) Double Wolf from her routine, she could literally be the British Alyssa Baumann. Gorgeous DLO.

Gorgeous floor. What are her other events like, does she have a chance to make Euros or Worlds?

She took silver on VT at Cottbus - I think she has a DTY which might be useful to GB and possibly an Omelianchik. She also made BB final and came 6th with just over 13

I hope she’s in the conversation then. It’s relatively slim pickings at the moment and at least one of the A team could do with just not going. Obviously she doesn’t help with the team weakness on bars but she’d be a good replacement for a Gadirova. A good DTY plus two 13s is worth trying out in major competition.

The selection meeting for Euros is today and then it’s communicated to athletes tomorrow with the appeals window then until Friday.

I see the teams being either:

Jess, Alice, Ondine, Georgia, Becky

Or

Alice, Ondine, Georgia, Becky, Ruby E

I’m pretty sure Jen isn’t going to get selected but she needs time to bring her skills and confidence back. If Jess is injured then I’d replace her with Ruby Evans

What is the format for Euros? Can they afford to take Becky? She won UB at the trials by a huge margin with 14.55 and was 4th on bb although just under 13. She potentially adds 1½ points to the team total just for ub

For the women*, 5-4-3 team format in qualifying. The only issue for Becky might be if Jennifer Gadirova is on the team one of them needs to be able to do vault if something goes wrong with the other three, but if we don’t think Jen is going that doesn’t matter.

*This Euros is slightly different for the men, they can take a specialist in addition to the five person team. Which would be perfect for Becky if we were struggling to fit a specialist on the team again, but there are very few specialists of that quality in WAG so I suppose the organisers don’t think it’s worth it.
