Alia Leat with 13.4 on beam. Super impressive considering she’s only been back training for 6 months.

Interestingly there was also an Aspire gymnast from Heathrow called Elisabetta Cardelli who scored 13.8 (with bonus) on beam yesterday, so she will probably outscore all the seniors today.

That's very confident, fluent work for someone who had time out. I'm assuming the scores are as unreliable as the usual domestic numbers, but Leat has now had two 13s in a fortnight.

Maybe we'll see her get an assignment this year.

With the usual caveats about domestic scoring, Ruby Stacey with a 13.9 on bars could be significant as well.

if you add in the Welsh guests then Emily Roper came 3rd AA with 51.1

1 51.100 - Emily Roper (Pipers Vale)
2 51.000 - Frances Stone (Amber Valley)
3 49.500 - Jemima Taylor (Clwb Cymru)

Frances Stone has done very well in both the Welsh and English- she could be a consideration for Euros.

It’s looking less and less likely that Alice and GMF will compete this year? With Jen and Charlotte now injured, possibly Ruby E too after Cottbus, that is leaving a very depleted squad, especially if the developmental senior squad is being phased out.

Anyone else feel uneasy about Becky’s inability to retire? It feels like an unhealthy trauma response. I’d much rather see her move on to something else.

I’m guessing the euros team will be Jess Gadirova, Evans, Stacey, Stone and Leat? Davies I guess if Evans is too injured.

Yeah I was suspicious when there was no formal retirement announcement after her 99% done interviews. Didn’t think she’d want to leave on that EF routine.

I suppose it depends if Kinsella/GMF are really on hiatus or will turn up to the British.

Becky can retire when she wants to retire. If she wants to continue good for her. Not sure why it is an assumption on being trauma based.
Oksana is still competing.

Gabby came back 12 years later. Memmel 9.

If gymnasts still love what they do, have at it.

My point is that it feels very different to the examples you’ve given.

If she still feels she's "got it" and is willing/able to do the training, go for it. Maybe there isn't anything other than fitness and gymnastics that she wants to be doing. I gotta say, I'd rather see her go out on top than limping along like Oksana. (Limping along meaning technically able to do most of the skills but never getting any better at them--form or difficulty-wise. Chusa's form is just as bad as it was 20 years ago and basically the rest of the world has really improved in that aspect so it is even more obvious)

With Chusovitina it’s financial. Whilst she’s still able to do the skills that can make her money on the World Cup circuit, then it makes sense for her to continue even if Olympic qualification isn’t realistic. If she had another way of making decent money, I don’t think she’d still be competing.
