The draw for the Welsh Championships has been updated.

Alice and both Jen and Jess Gadirova are competing as guests.
First competition of the new quad, exciting!

The WAGs are Saturday 15th February and the MAGs on Sunday. We don't typically get a stream for the Welsh, as I recall? Hopefully there'll be videos.

GB has uploaded a policy for making the national squads. I can’t see anything on there about the senior development squad, so maybe that no longer exists.

Interesting to note that only 4 senior gymnasts at last years British championships made the 50.5 AA score which is now one of the criteria for the performance pathway squad.

Thanks for that.

It will be interesting to see who makes the new senior squad and whether it will be a larger squad to account for getting rid of the senior development level. The funding models seems a little confusing- it doesn’t state what the requirements are to receive a funded UK sport place versus receiving a programme only ‘supported’ place.

It says 16 max, which is definitely going to be interesting

Ok, only 16 places. That’s an interesting strategy for depth considering the current senior and dev has 22 members and still doesn’t feel very deep! Obviously there are also new incoming seniors in the running for spots too.

The only official retirees from last year’s squad are Amelie Morgan and Sofia Micallef.

In cash terms, UK Sport's funding for gymnastics has gone up by about a million quid for the LA cycle, but when you account for inflation the sport is getting less than it did for Paris. I wonder if BG are planning to invest in a smaller number of surer bets rather than spreading resources more thinly. Anyone know if they're trimming the MAG numbers too?

Mag hasn’t been trimmed. They still have their senior development tier. Total number of senior MAG gymnasts is 23…

They selected their squad last month.

I think juniors and seniors are funded 16 places each and development squad (old aspire/ espoir squad) are part funded. Thats how I read it anyway.

Possibly 3 injuries from cottbus. Apparently Ruby had an issue on her second vault, resulting in withdrawing from beam and floor. Charlotte injured herself in the floor final, it looked like Achilles. And something happened to Courtney but it doesn’t seem major from his post

Oh no! 😥

Poor Jen. I hope that she recovers well and it sounds like she has a very supportive team behind her.

All three of the big Aylesbury gymnasts have have ACL injuries over the last 18 months 😢
