I was at Nationals with an uncommitted 2025, and wow, recruiting was in full swing! I was shocked at how many big programs were actively recruiting. Many said they still had scholarships available. One coach said a lot had to do with the lawsuit ruling and of course the portal. He said if there was a year to be late bloomer, this was it. We had many offers for official visits, and a even a full ride offered, almost all from SEC programs. This is just my little inside tidbit, fwiw.

Wow. I hope your athlete gets a fantastic opportunity

Me too! I was absolutely shocked how many teams were actively recruiting. Like, can she visit on Tuesday? Full ride offered without anything more than a call? She has one excellent event, one very good event and 2 weaker events. The school that offered has been to our gym before with a previous athlete and did develop a pretty good rapport with our head coach. Such a whirlwind it was. Can't wait to see what she chooses.

Wow, super interesting. Looks like every SEC school is aiming for the full 20 spots next season.

Although some are already at/past the limit so a watch on who could be entering the transfer portal.

When we were at Nationals, there were a lot of SEC schools with full rides. 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♀️ Not sure where they all come from; I was surprised there were any left. The smaller schools did not have them. I think it has to do with the lawsuit but who knows.

Or they were just really desperate for vault.

I think this is the continued march toward the haves (SEC. Big10) and the have-nots (All other conferences). The haves will fund up to the roster limit of those scholarships. They will be more attractive to athletes and we will see more girls that will fill the benches.

I was a little shocked by this one considering she really just has vault, and for it to be a full ride? Interesting
I am not shocked at all. Since the rosters can be up to 20 athletes, the top schools, especially with NIL money benefit the most from this as they can max out their roster, by rounding out where a team might be weakest. Definitely having a realistic and strong 10.0 vault could get you a full ride just for that event alone.

The rule definitely opens the door for specialists. Who wouldn't want a Helen Hu for beam or an Audrey Davis for bars?

Knowing first hand how the recruiting process works and what the talk is
( having a recruit myself ) having specialists is going to be rare. They want as many girls as they possibly can that have at least 3 events they are able to be competitive in. When you have girls scoring 9.9 on vault at nationals and they are getting 4 place in their respective age division, it would seem that vault isn't such a rarity as it once was.
