I wonder how soon countries will have world trials? Japan does it earliest of course.

According to BG selection criteria, most of the designated selection events are done. They have one internal comp at the end of August, but the public selection events were Euros 2022/23, worlds 23 and the worl cups, along with British champs.

Unofficial apparatus qualifiers. 2 unused spots on bars/floor, and 7 for pbars.

FIG needs to move from 8 spots per event down to 2 or 3 IMO. Makes it more competitive as well.

Reallocate the other spots for continentals, maybe allow the top finisher on each apparatus (that hasn’t already qualified) to qualify to that event at Worlds.

Look at PB…only 1 out of 8 spots is being used.

It would also boost the continentals even more because it would mean that specialist can qualify outside of the team and all around.

Teams ranked by qualifying score:
Your number are slightly off for Pan Ams.
USA was 162.167
MEX was 159.099
CAN was 155.768
BRA was 150.399
ARG was 147.366

Qualification to Worlds came from Team Qualification, you listed the team finals scores.
Mexico would rank 6th not 12th with their 5-4-3 from Pan Ams.

Thanks for catching that! I’ll edit it.

Super excited for Korea and Mexico, plus Hungary in the top 8! I’d love to see them qualify as a team, but regardless of that, it’s nice to see these teams looking competitive again.

Does anyone have a list of the top AA international scores (can include team final)?

I wouldn’t put too much (or any) weight on some of those scores. Lots of “B” teams sent to continentals for teams already qualified.

It’s complicated. Russia should know before the world cup series which of their athletes will be eligible to compete as individuals won’t they? Because if not, and depending on exactly what the rules say at the time, they might end up having to second guess who might fall foul. Probably more of an issue in MAG than WAG given the military aspect.

Yeah I would say that other than GBR and CHN, all of the other teams already qualified (FRA, BRA, USA, CAN, JPN, ITA) didn’t really send A teams to continentals, Japan not sendign a team at all.

Probably more accurate to compare the teams that were not already qualified. Mexico and Korea were the best teams they could send for example. Where as Brazil down in 16th is not reflective of it’s A team potential.

Australian WAG:
Miella Brown
Georgia Godwin
Kate McDonald
Ruby Pass
Breanna Scott
Emily Whitehead
Macy Pegoli (non-travelling alternate)

They’ll decide between Whitehead and Brown for the last spot once they’re in Antwerp.

Not that I see much of a point in a non-traveling alternate in the first place, but Australia having one is particularly egregious considering how long a flight from Australia to most places in the Western Hemisphere tends to be. It’s a 21-hour flight from Sydney to Antwerp.

I took it more as Macy will do whatever domestic world prep trainings camps there are, and if there’s an injury between now and when the team leaves, she’s automatically bumped to the travelling team. Better to name a non-travelling reserve so everyone knows where they stand. I can only imagine the drama if someone got hurt and they hadn’t named a non-travelling, then name Macy.Tthere would (rightfully) be screaming about the lack of transparency in naming her to the team so late in the process.

That’s a strong team. I’m excited to see Ruby at a big comp because she’s got so much potential and is still only 16.

I’d expect Emily to get the last spot - her y1.5 adds to a good vault lineup and her floor is super clean to score just under 13 at Commonwealths last year. UB and BB is covered from the over 4 so Em makes the most sense.

Miella is more of a wildcard. Her nationals routines were rough but she’s recently posted some training videos that look excellent, including a very solid looking y double on vault which might get her on the team if the other 4 are showing enough on floor in the lead up.

No Georgia Rose-Brown? I am shooketh. Did she retire again?

She was part of the ‘squad’ the team was selected from but was always a long shot to make the team this year.
