hey,
wanted to ask how relastic it is to start gymnastic as an adult,while focusing on high bars and pbars.
with a goal of just picking up some c skills and not going for full routine?

C skills? Almost impossible. If your body type is particularly conducive to gymnastics and you have a good level of general fitness, core strength and shoulder flexibility, being able to do a giant on HB might be a realistic goal. Remember that most adult classes/open sessions are 2-3 hours a week. A child or teenage gymnast aiming for c level skills will be training around 20 hours a week

Yes, but the majority of training is focused on developing essential strength and flexibility that are required for all events and all skills. There isn’t a short cut

If I wanted to do adult gymnastics I’d find some small goals to start. Go to a gym and talk to a coach and ask what they can do and how many hours it would take.

trying to work and my strength and flexibility right now.
looking online info to bulid some strength before actually going to a gym.
found David Tilley from shift . but its geared more to children and women.
hard to find actionable information about gymnastics.

for now its about 4 clean dips, about 15 slow clean push ups and adding hanging endurance and pull ups.
for now pull up is the big struggle so building up with resistance bands.
progressing towards handstand. for now legs on chair and hand walking from and to the chair. sets of six of those.

flexibility
i am not sure how to measure. but am working on hip and hamstring flexibility.
hamstring flexibility- touching the ground with fingers. now yet with full palm.
for side split - touching the ground with full palm.
 
For the events you want to do, your shoulder flexibility is going to be the most crucial. It is considerably harder to develop shoulder flexibility as an adult male than during childhood or adolescence due to the way that the upper body muscles develop. The male gymnasts in their 30s with great shoulder flexibility will have developed it in their youth and then managed to maintain it as they’ve gained muscle mass as they get older. It’s the reason you don’t see much cross over between rings specialists and HB specialists. They have conflicting physical requirements
 
i figured shoulder flexibility will be key.
just wasn't sure about the reality of developing it.
 
Your goal of getting C level skills will be very, very challenging, I think, certainly within the next couple years. But I also would offer that adult gymnasts who get the most out of gymnastics don't think about it in terms of reaching a specific level. They tend to think about it in terms of moving the body in cool, creative ways, setting reasonable challenges and working toward them, and about fitness.

Would you say that mostly fits your goals, at the end of the day? If so, I think you'll have fun!
