This seemed like a good thread to share, YouTube recommendations brought me back to one of my all time favourite floor musics (from Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Would love to see this reused) and an overall underappreciated routine.

I feel like that choreography and the music cut doesn’t do Pictures any justice…

I really like the music! For the most part I preferred floor music in the 2000s though when using only one song (maybe two at most that flow well together) was the norm & there were less random vocals.

I mean the cut is ok, the choreo is mostly ignoring whatever's going on except in the "look I'm doing a weird pose on the floor, so you know it's ARTISTRY" portion of the exercise.

Produnova could rock this shit tho

This all led me to revisit my favourite mash-up music that makes no sense yet it worked for me (a 2.5 into a tucked rudi helps of course)

Big shoutout to whoever edited this music cutting wherever the fuck they felt like between 1:24 and 1:30. Bars are for LOSAHS

I’ve always liked this music as well, despite it being a tad odd. What would her first pass be worth in the current COP?

Notable how restrained and softly spoken Still is here.

It'd be a C-C-B so I'm guessing nothing. When she did it it was C-C-C, that's the whole reason she had it in then took it out for 2007
She was actually briefly doing this pass with a tucked Rudi at the beginning of 2007, but her SV got ripped apart as they didn't seem to know you can't do the same element in two different passes (front layout full) for CV. Still, 8 C+ rated acro in one routine is nuts.

The 2006 music was done by the same choreographer who did all of the 2005-10 routines. His choreo was never good but I liked most of his music

Just remembered a really funny example of technically legal coaching in the middle of a routine.

Steliana wobbles in the middle of her dance series and doesn't do a backup, and on the judges' camera angle you can see the head coach immediately runs to the other coach to discuss. Then he runs over to a gymnast to get her to start screaming at her 3-5 times to repeat it, which she does just before dismounting. During the broadcast replay Steliana says "I heard, thank you" while waiting for the score

Obviously no rules broken as it was an athlete yelling, but I wonder how FIG would react to this these days if it was in a language they understood lmao

Why? It's still legal.

Does anyone know what the judges did here?

This should have gotten a 4.9 D if you give her a dance CR. For some reason, she didnt get it. 4.4 D. Ouch.

@Denn thinks they counted the sissone as a split jump repeated - therefore no dance credit.

I’m thinking they just thought the connection was broken (although it looks mostly ok to me).

My other thought is maybe the LOSO mount doesn’t count as backwards acro for the “front/back acro” CR? But that would be stupid. It’s clearly backwards acro! And it’s hard as fuck!

Thoughts?

I think in real time, they saw that it was connected but that it looked like a regular horizontal split position. The rules say "not at horizontal' gets only 0.1 deduction and "at horizontal" gets split jump instead of Sissone, but I think that in real time, they saw it as horizontal. I thought of something else. See next post.

I think she lost both CR 2 / Acrobatic Series of at Least Two Flight Elements, One Salto and CR 4 / Acrobatic Elements in Different Directions for not placing her right foot on the surface of the beam prior to the fall on the back handspring.

You can see my scripts of uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise from the 2024 All Around in this thread:
