Which gymnasts have done “split leg” tumbles on floor? I can think of Tatiana Gutsu (double layout) and Michelle Campi (double pike). Any other examples?

Too many. It’s hideous. When I was 12, I thought it was a huge form break. Lolol

Those and the split-leg toe-on elements on UB. It looks juvenile.

Though neither are as bad as double tuck jumps, to be fair. Those were a true blight on the sport.

I suppose the thinking is that if you can do a single layout with split legs, why not a double. But to me they are just a novelty skill.

I did however like it when pavlova did a front layout step out of her front double twist on floor

I adored that pass. It was such a throwback to all the stylistic tweaks on front tumbling in the mid 90s when everyone was trying to make theirs look a bit different.

Would that be a deduction if it were done today? Technically she didn't hop or step on the landing.

No - a salto with a stepout can land in a lunge position with no deduction.

I wish we saw a lot more of these kinds of things. They are pretty, easier to control landings, and cool.

Yelena Grudneva in 1991 ended her second tumbling line with an arabian layout step out (Onodi with no hands). She stepped or danced out of it. Interesting work

Her contract had apparently been renewed to 2028, but was now terminated “im Einvernehmen” (code for she was given a large sum of money, IMO). The German article stated that the cooperation did not work as expected. Didn’t Helen Kevric move to Italy to train?

Yes, she did and apparently did not want to train under Aimee.

Wow. I just read this: and it looks like there’s something going on according to Gymcastic.

“The German Gymnastics Federation (DTB) and American coach Aimee Boorman have mutually ended their collaboration at the Stuttgart training center, despite her contract running through 2028. Hired in 2025 to bring a “new spirit” after abuse allegations, Boorman worked under challenging conditions from the start. The DTB stated the partnership “did not function as desired or required,” without giving specifics. Investigations into alleged systemic physical and psychological abuse at Stuttgart and Mannheim are ongoing, with prosecutors involved and inquiries reportedly extending to senior DTB leadership. The federation has not taken personnel action. The situation continues to unfold as Stuttgart prepares to host the upcoming DTB Cup.
