That particular person was from Canada and was just so much better than the rest of us because while she was in a committed hetero relationship, she was not married. And I wanted to be like "the reality in the US is pretty different. Now shut up, enjoy your cradle to grave health insurance, and stop telling the rest of us how to live our lives."

Yeah, I remember her. She called me racist, except it was all in capitals and spelled incorrectly.

If that's who I think it was, she was insufferable in every respect. She was also behind a lot of the bullying and doxxing.

If I remember correctly, the GGMB crew gave him a hard time because he didn't share it quickly enough to suit them.

That’s it. I remembered there was some ugliness around him sharing it but not the details on the GGMB side. As I recall it was all right around the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and I was like, seriously, you’re being this petty right now about an old gymnastics video.

It's interesting, she has something of a public profile now and the nastiness is... very much not the angle she's going for.

Just a gentle reminder that posts in our forum are open to the entire internet, so a potentially wide audience is able to read.

If you're feeling unsure whether you should post something, some other options are (a) hold back, at least for now, (b) use private message to share with certain people instead, or (c) say just the parts that you would be comfortable seeing on the internet 10 years from now — and having that person see, too.

I remember watching YouTube clips of competitions posted by some of these individuals, and while I always appreciated the coverage, the things they said in the videos were frequently so wild that I was baffled

I just wanted to change from my actual name and chose the name of a character from a tv show I like

I was on gym world back in 2004 but mostly read with only rare posts (hence the name change soni felt I could post more).
I lurked a little bit in other forums too but I think I never quite got on to ggmb. I knew it was bad from reading on gymworld but didn’t realise it was quite so bad!

She was extremely parasocial. To the point that I cannot post everything I know because the gymnasts involved would not want me to. It's enough to say that she thought she was besties with a lot of gymnasts and that sentiment was not reciprocated. Some of them found her and the rest of the group very uncomfortable to be around, but they didn't want to end up with their names all over GGMB and labelled as c**** so they went along. Just zero self awareness or boundaries with that user.
