In the meantime the description above totally got me to go follow her on social media :ROFLMAO:

I have been rewarded with kitten pics and maybe new yoga workouts
I'm so glad!! I've been practicing yoga with her for more than five years now, and she's really a gem. (Her videos helped me maintain a modicum of sanity during the pandemic, and I've stuck with her ever since.)

Over the weekend, my husband gave his take on the co-op's rejection. He's a baseball fan, and the story feaured prominently in his news feeds because Livvy's boyfriend (what's-his-face) is apparently a star pitcher (blah blah blah. Baseball is like white noise for me). Initially, my husband thought the co-op board was being too snotty, but then I reminded about the experiences I shared earlier in this thread (noisy neighbors, useless HOAs). And then I asked how much he'd like to have a couple of twenty-something celebrities living near us right now? (We are both in our mid-50s. We have a tween daughter, and we really, really value our quiet,.) He conceded that if he'd been on that co-op board, he probably would have rejected Livvy + BF, too.

Honestly I think more people would've vetoed it than not, in that situation.

Livvy's boyfriend is Paul Skeens. He's kinda a big deal on baseball. He's the national league starting pitcher for the all star game tonight.

I've lived near several pro athletes over the years, and for the most part they've all been pretty quiet keep-to-themsleves types. Although some of their teammates have been legendary wild guys, so glad I haven't lived by them. And Livvy's whole shtick is bringing attention on herself. She's not a quiet, mostly anonymous middle reliever who rides his bike to the ballpark.

I do find it a bit curious that they're looking to buy in NYC. Paul plays for Pittsburgh. Most ballplayers have their off-season home back where they grew up or someplace warm with little to no income tax (hello, Florida). NYC is a highly unusual choice. Presumably this is being driven by Livvy and her attention seeking. Although I'm a little surprised she didn't go to LA.

I thought Livvy was from the Jersey side of the NYC metro area?

Between Skenes and Dunne, they have enough money to have several homes if they want it.

Perhaps NYC is the "middle ground" location. It's just a 1 and half hour flight from Pitt to NYC. If they feel the mood to drive, its 6 hours, not ideal but doable.

I dunno, but it seems obvious to me that nearly everyone from her hometown would aspire to live in manhattan?
She may not be intending to live there full time

Paul Skenes was rookie of the year last year and the front runner to win the Cy Young this year(best pitcher in baseball). Got a $9.2 million signing bonus his first year. once he is past his rookie contract stage in a few years, there is talk he could sign a record deal. Think something like $500 million for maybe 8-10 years.

That home is $1.59 million, which may sound like a lot but for NYC i would say is about an average “upper middle class” home price. If I were on that board I’d be worried they were just looking for a place to be like a hotel room when they are in NYC or just want the cashet of owning Babe Ruth’s place, not looking to become actual neighbors.

$1.59 million sounds absolutely nothing. Are we sure it wasn’t Babe Ruth’s closet?

Yeah, I was extremely surprised that they were going with such a humble unit in what seems to be a very sleepy building. They'd have much better luck somewhere flashier where the other owners want the cachet of a famous neighbor, not what is likely to be a bunch of retirees who have lived in the building for decades and live very modestly.
