No, she didn’t win and to be quite honest, as a legal case it was ridiculous. It was based upon hurt feelings at not being able to have a natural birth.

There was a bit of chat when it was first in the papers that she was going to sue them (civil case) and it came to nothing.

It was definitely a massive reach her particular issue. She’d had 2 healthy children via planned c sections, but felt she missed out by not being able to give birth naturally. I don’t know what the particular health issue was, or how it could be attributed to her training.

I take the view that if that she was going to take the time and effort to bring a legal case against her coaches, and that was all she had, then it’s proper clutching at straws stuff. Even in the light of what’s come out more recently, she hasn’t subsequently spoken out as far as I’m aware.

It's hard to blame crotching the beam on a coach. It's a bit of an inherent hazard of beam, one would think?!

BG are sending a team to the Summer University Games in July in Germany. It looks like they managed to get a full MAG team together.

I’m glad that they were able to get a WAG team together, although I did have hopes that Ondine or Poppy might be interested in going.

Crystelle’s mother, June Lake, was a relatively well known glamour model/beer can girl in the 80s. I think she changed her surname to Lake. Which is fine, I’m just not sure that if my surname was Ozero, I’d call my daughter Crystelle!

It's hard to blame crotching the beam on a coach. It's a bit of an inherent hazard of beam, one would think?!

The only thing I can think of is a claim that she was more tired than usual from overtraining or stated a concern that was brushed off. But I think most gymnasts have had a bad miss on beam just by virtue of time training on it.

Is there any reason for that do you think? Is it because of changes in coaching following the White Report? Or the fact that there are stricter rules regarding training during school hours now? I don’t think it’s fallout from the covid gym closures as that probably had the most impact on those that were Juniors and Aspires during 2020-2022, although there obviously could still be a trickle down effect.

However the fact that the junior French team (155.800) can outscore the GB senior team (154.695) that went to Euros this year is interesting. I haven’t looked at the videos of routines yet but wondering how tight/loose the scoring might have been for France to score that.

I also wonder what GBs plan is for this quad. I have a feeling that they may be heavily relying on the big guns to return from last quad and putting their eggs in a Gadirova and post baby Alice basket.
