I’d have more sympathy for Listunova (and Urazova) not being able to compete if she hadn’t shown up at a pro-war rally with a Z on her chest.

Kuliak walked out of the AA final while the competition was still going on, apparently without telling anyone, and V Rod isn’t impressed

Who could’ve foreseen that cosseting athletes who do what the fuck they like when representing the country internationally might lead to them also doing what the fuck they like in domestic competition? Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I would think it would still be -0.5. Don’t think it would be exceptional because it’s a wolf turn
Others more knowledgeable than me should chime in if i’m wrong, but I thought that it was capped at 0.3 unless she came off the beam. Although obviously on any other skill it’s a clear 0.5. I think there are videos in the (old) Help Desk demonstrating this. Would need to look at the new one to see if that’s still in there.

The new version of the Help Desk does increase potential deductions to 0.5, but unfortunately the video example provided is only for the 0.3 case (also the same example used for the previous edition of the Help Desk).

Well that’s something. The old rule was ridiculous. One can assume that 0.5 now applies to grasp to avoid a fall, as it does for every other element.

Ok so I judged the Russian AA. I have:

  1. Listunova 55.3
    :vt: 13.8 (5.0)
    :ub: 15.0 (6.2)
    🇧🇧 12.6 (5.6)
    :fx: 13.9 (5.6)

2. Melnikova 55.1
:vt: 14.0 (5.0)
:ub: 14.0 (6.1)
🇧🇧 13.5 (5.9)
:fx: 13.6 (5.9)

3. Urazova 53.10
:vt: 13.7 (5.0)
:ub: 14.3 (5.8)
🇧🇧 13.2 (5.3)
:fx: 11.9 (5.1)

Literally have zero idea what scores they actually ended up getting. But I definitely agreed with the medalists. I’m actually surprised Listunova and Melnikova were so close. Even with the fall from Listunova, she looks absolutely glorious this year. Her bars were an absolute highlight. For me, I had an 8.8 E and IDGAF if anyone disagrees. Just gorgeous gorgeous leg form that we do not see anymore (and which does not get properly rewarded IMO). The stretch on her Jaeger is breathtaking.

There were quite a few close D Score calls so it wouldn’t surprise me if my D Panels were off. Would be interested to get other impressions too, if anyone wants to have a go.

I absolutely don’t want Russia at Worlds (or even the coming Olympics, to be honest). It’s just a shame that we won’t be seeing this beautiful gymnastics there.

8.8 execution for Listunova’s routine is very correct! I could go .1 higher even, it’s a close call to take amplitude on the Ricna or not. High 8’s execution should be more common. I give an 8.8 to Leanne Wong’s Bars at 2022 Nationals Day 2, and at 2021 Worlds in the AA she was 9.0 for me (9.1 this season with the removal of the Pak angle rule).

I have no idea who this gymnast is and whether she is a junior or a senior but I imagine they’re excited about her bars?

Her name is Ekaterina Andreeva. She’s 14 (2008) and from Cheboksary. She’s on the junior national team since last year

So she is Paris eligible?

She already has this Code’s “stock Russian” routine down already.
