The scores are basically lined up with their E-scores. Beam is all about Execution.

What we all need to learn about beam routine construction: Do as few skills as possible to fulfill the requirements, dance a lot (partly in relevé), be a little creative, and get off. Because every trick you do is just going to lower your score probably.

6 out of the 9 finalists fell or grabbed the beam. Wow.

Yes, tell the lazy bitch to get out of his pit and slap a leotard on, we have a job for him to do.

It’s interesting just how bad a splatfest we’ve just seen, because beam is the WAG EF with the strongest field, easily. Obviously there being 9 of them helps a bit, but the lineup wouldn’t look out of place at a fully attended worlds. Two Olympic AA medallists, a former world beam champion, the world cup series winner, three world AA medallists, and one of the two new names is Luo Rui. Yet it was really, really crap. Compare that to vault, where the bulk of the field probably would barely be top 20 if everyone was here, and yet in terms of how well the competitors hit to their ability, it was excellent. Just shows what a complicated issue this is.

Bachynska looks VERY nervous, come on girl you got this

ETA: very nicely hit routine. I mean I loathe the music but that was really a very nice work throughout. It will be interesting to see the comparison to Urazova’s score
