I make fun of how poorly run the FIG is a lot. But the IBA reminds me it could be way worse. The IBA (formerly AIBA) was boxing’s Olympic governing body. It didn’t go well:
Electing a literal crime boss to head the organization was the final straw. So Thomas Bach didn’t allow the IBA to oversee Tokyo 2020. Instead Morinari Watanabe oversaw boxing events. Now the IBA is fully expelled. Another organization, World Boxing, formed recently and aims to gain governing body status.
