Look at their takeoff. It is not from a squared position, but from a moving entry with what gymnastics would call a "cheat" on the floor, but what is correct technique in figure skating. They also often land 1/4ish rotation shy of fully around, so you are looking at 2.5 rotations in air from a moving entry, a very different skill. Also the triple jumps off-ice are linked by chasse-like steps.Figure skaters don't have trouble with it (much less just a double, on a springed floor). Literally everyone in Eteri's camp does Triple-Triple's off ice every day.
Now, Ilia Kulik could do it, but we are talking exceptions, not rules when we get to that point. My point is it is hella hard.
