One of the worst cases of coaches not caring for athlete safety I can think of

At 2022 Euros, Romania originally had 4 girls doing the AA with Silviana Sfiringu benched (she was sick). She was also coming back from a broken ankle and broken bones in her neck, and only did VT/UB/BB that season. Right before march out, the startlists were updated with her in the AA, as her teammate tore her meniscus.

Romania ended on floor after a shockingly good first 3 events, and they were going to do 3 up 3 count as Sfiringu couldn't even remember the last time she trained floor. Their second up fell for an 11.333, so right as Barbosu was about to go the coaches signal her off the floor and have Sfiringu run to get her turn shoe and compete. She didn't even do the one touch warmup. She fell on her last pass for a 10.066 (dropped) not only making the whole thing pointless, but absurdly dangerous.

She said it was her idea, but no sane coach would okay this. Coincidentally this was the year they forfeited their team spot at worlds, sending only Barbosu & Preda as everyone else was too injured.
