One part of this equation that needs to change is NCAA coaches picking the judges for their home meets. Getting rid of that conflict of interest would release at least some pressure on judges to be generous in their scoring of the home teams that give judges opportunities to do what they care about and work they may need to pay the bills.

Unfortunately this might not be an option, because the pay for NCAA judging is not the greatest which is why the really good ones opt for Level 10 meets.

As someone who looked into judging (because I live within doable driving distance to 4 teams (Springfield, SCSU, Bridgeport, Yale) ultimately I determined it was not financially worth it. With my full time job I wouldn't be able to do full time work because I can't travel and be away, but being able to drive to and back from a meet within an hour each way was doable but just didn't pan out.

Maloney to C for CV purposes would accomplish a lot. +/- Van Leeuwen, Chow, and Shap to D for CV, +/- exempt if either connected to E element or same-bar release, whatever you like.

For this to be effective, C element with no turn or flight shouldn't be eligible for CV at all, regardless of what it's connected to. It's nuts that they said Maloney + Pak/bail is now only eligible for 0.1 CV...when you can just recoup the tenth you'd have earned in previous codes by throwing a toe-on to handstand before the Maloney. Groundbreaking.

Yuck @ the annual same-bar release requirement discourse. Overwhelmingly, we'd get a Tkatchev (and not a great one), in exchange for jump to dead hang on HB mount, more straddle casts, and squat to HB. YMMV, but this isn't much better to me than a Maloney-fest.
