At this point I would take Dalaloyan off of Rings completely. One less dismount to worry about.

I’m curious if they will rest him in prelims. Maybe place him last in the line-up to be used only if necessary . . . or will he do prelims. Every landing seems so risky.

They need his rings score to replace Belyavskiy in team finals. Belyavskiy is not capable of more than 13.3-13.5 on rings and Dalaloyan is good for mid 14.5-14.7 so that is one full point difference.

Dalaloyan is doing AA in qualifications and is also doing two vaults for event finals qualification, per the start lists posted today.

I’m going to have to read spoilers before watching the Russians in qualifications because I don’t think I can stand to watch him live. I continue to not understand how he is physically possible right now!

He’s only vaulting a Roche, right? Does he have enough difficulty to even be contending for an AA medal? Certainly he won’t get into VT EF with his current difficulty.

IIRC Dalaloyan vaulted a Blanik (tucked last half) in podium. Not sure what his second vault was but in the past he had a Yurchenko Triple.

I mean, I wouldn’t do it but I’m not surprised someone would.

We don’t know if the injury was exaggerated to begin with too. And maybe there are experimental treatments that helped. The Russians get a nice paycheck for any medals so he might be weighing risk and reward.

So he not only competed but he will qualify to the AA final.

His floor was really rough, but his vault was decent.

Yes, now that Japan has moved in front. I don’t think starting on pommel is good, but at least he can now do the other events before thinking about floor… if he does it. With him not making an event final, I wonder if he’ll ponder AA now.
