But I do think that this particular performance IS a 2.5. She’s not even at the quarter mark. I think that downgrading that is fair. BUT if she did a 2.5 for, say, a dismount, I think it should count instead and this one would be ignored.

The women’s code, as written now, would lay waste to her score:
  • Downgrade this to a D and deduct 0.1
  • Call the later 2.5 a repeated skill, counting a 0 element among the 8 skills because the dismount always has to count
  • Deduct 0.5 from the D-score because WAG was annoyed at the FIG order to cut down to 4 composition requirements and turned the 0.5 dismount composition requirement into a 0.5 deduction
  • Deny dismount bonus +0.2 even though she did have a D dismount
This ONE error on the triple full would penalize the athlete a whopping 1.3 That’s worse than a fall. And it’s completely unreasonable.
 
Right, which is why I was trying to offer an alternative to just losing both elements. The current is ridiculous.
