I am very much one of those “pregnancy is not an illness” types. But when I saw videos of Aleksandra Trusova on the ice doing twisting jumps 4 weeks post partum, I felt it in my own abdomen.

Pregnancy may not be an illness, but it sure as hell can make you so sick you actually lose weight (0/10, do not recommend). I did manage to get back on my skates at 10 weeks, but I was not back to 100% for 2.5 years. I did not know all the ways the body to could be torn and scarred.

A former coworker had hyperemesis gravardium so bad that it got to a point that the only things she could keep down were mashed potatoes and 7Up. Until she couldn't. I'm honestly surprised she didn't end up hospitalized.

I get it though. Home CWG and Euros coming up, which must be attractive. Not sure whether the women specifically want different teams or not as apparently has been said for the men, but the events are close together. And even if it's fine for gymnasts to double up, the top Brits are more Welsh than usual at the moment, so that alone means more than 5 gymnasts will do at least one iyswim.

I’d be surprised if WAG has the luxury of separate teams but I guess if Kinsella and both Gadirovas are back and everyone else is fit it’s possible. But it’s 6 months away, that’s a huge ask. Probably does makes sense to split Fenton and Downie even if not going to have 2 completely different teams. I’d love to see Becky compete at CWGs, would be 20 years since she competed at the 2006 CWGs!

Did they really? I had no idea.

But it's home not just in the sense of being down the road so everyone you know can come, but also because of the higher level of attention CWG receives when in the UK. The commercial potential is greater. Look at what Fragapane managed to do.

In terms of separate teams, Ruby E obviously isn't going to be on the English team, and is a shoo in for the GB Euros lineup if she wants, so that's at least one available CWG space that isn't there when the A team are English, iyswim. If either Gadirova is back, it'll be interesting to see what they prioritise.
