I am very much one of those “pregnancy is not an illness” types. But when I saw videos of Aleksandra Trusova on the ice doing twisting jumps 4 weeks post partum, I felt it in my own abdomen.
Pregnancy may not be an illness, but it sure as hell can make you so sick you actually lose weight (0/10, do not recommend). I did manage to get back on my skates at 10 weeks, but I was not back to 100% for 2.5 years. I did not know all the ways the body to could be torn and scarred.
A former coworker had hyperemesis gravardium so bad that it got to a point that the only things she could keep down were mashed potatoes and 7Up. Until she couldn't. I'm honestly surprised she didn't end up hospitalized.
