Penile injections raised the bar, but there's been some fantastic rule-breaking over the past couple of weeks.

As far as I understand it penisgate is hypothetical - no one is admitting to actually trying this - although it was a rumour circulating in Germany. I guess the 4 year press jumped on it - especially after "crotch gate" last year where a Norwegian assistent coach stretched the crotch area of the ski jumping suits....

Ski jumping has been very hot on equipment violations this year - there are usually several DQs per competition weekend - usually for clothing size such as the suit being 1mm-4mm too big or in the case of Tschofenig wearing ski boots that were 4 mm too large.

There are also many ways of getting DQ'd in Biathlon
  • leaving googles on range
  • dropping ammo

A couple of South Korean cross-country skiers got DQd for using ski wax containing “forever chemicals” that were banned from the sport on environmental grounds.

Yes - fluorocarbon waxes were banned in competition several years ago for the 2023-24 season. During the first year there were a lot of DQs because (apparently) it is really difficult to get them off the ski-base unless you know what you are doing and most of the big teams just got new skis.

There is also a rather bizarre scandal in the French women's biathlon team with one of the team, Julia Simon, recently back from a ban after she was criminally convicted (suspended prison sentence + $18,000 in fines) of stealing her teammate's, Justine Braisaz Bouchet, credit card and going on a shopping spree, spending over 2000 euros/$2400. She was also convicted of stealing the team physio's credit card.

Both are on the Olympic team which must make the team atmosphere .... awkward!
