NCAA 2026 Transfer Portal

Supposedly Oklahoma has a transfer coming in for a visit tomorrow, which would mean someone currently on the roster is leaving early or one of the incoming freshman is not coming on time. I know 3 of them have had surgery this season. Also heard Caitlin Smith will be done, since she needs another shoulder surgery. It was great to see her hit those bar routines at Nationals after all the injuries she's had.

What a lovely way for Smith to finish her career and get such a big moment contributing to the win.

I suspect either Aspen or Hurley-Snow could medically retire given the amount of injuries both have had.

I imagine she's looking to move to a more successful team, but surely that will mean never doing vault or bars again. She can't crack the Arkansas line up for vault, she's sure as heck not going to at a top tier school. Her bars is likely not going to be used at a top school, either.

Maybe being at a top school she'll finally get a 10 thrown her way on beam or floor. Which would just be further proof that NCAA Gymnastics is more performance art than actual sport, but hey, she can say she got a ten.

It might also be about better coaching. The fact that they did not manage for her to get a vault together (bars will always be a struggle) is a bad sign for me that maybe Arkansas coaching did not work well for her.

I could imagine that someone with more experience with accelerated athletes who might have some long-standing technique issues could help her more than what they’ve done.

She seems happy there, but I don’t think her NCAA career has been as successful as she might have hoped. She’s not making the vault line up. I don’t think the Arkansas coaches have the skill to address her form issues in the way that Utah did with Skinner. Add that to the fact that none of them have coached elite? It probably just isn’t the right fit for what she wants to achieve
