Event (FIG) 2025 Worlds Medals

I would be so embarrassed if I worked my entire life to make it to Worlds and then had to wear this thing on the medal podium. This looks like a medal we would give out to the tiny tots class for making it through the year without peeing their pants.

I like it. It's unique and reflective of where this event is held.

I'd rather have a memorable and unique medal then one that looks similar the 100s of other ones that I have.

I choose the mascot medal over the donut medal. At least the flower can bring back memories of where the competition took place.

Designing a medal that looks like a “corpse flower”, a parasitic flower that smells of rotting flesh is certainly unique, I’ll give them that!

Some of you all have clearly never lived in a place that has a corpse flower and experienced the absolute insanity it's impending bloom causes in otherwise jaded, rational people. If they could get a medal in the shape of a corpse flower? They might stab each other waiting in line just to ensure they get one. Corpse flower mania is real, my friends.

To some, definitely, but this might be a fairly culturally specific way of looking at it. It’s actually supposed to represent strength and beauty, which is how the rafflesia flower is perceived.

Like music, aesthetics vary a lot between cultures and something that looks unacceptably whimsical to some could easily look appropriately thematic to others. If you look at the medals Indonesia gave at their nationals, they’re sort of (different - not rafflesia) flower shaped and colourful.

Indonesia - not a big gymnastics nation - stepped up to host the worlds that nobody really wanted and it genuinely looks like they’re trying to put their own stamp on it and make it memorable. I imagine this won’t be many gymnast’s favourite medal of their career, but I don’t think this’ll stop them trying their best to get their hands on one!

This; surely there are ways they could have incorporated the flower into a medal design that didn't look like a children's toy.
