Australia has been sending some of its emerging talent to world cups, university games etc this year (Lucy Stewart, Annabelle Burrows etc), but as per the above post, there's simply nothing for a fourth Australian WAG to do at worlds except compete a couple of non world-class vaults.

And while the emerging talent that we're leaving behind might turn out to be slow burn (like Breanna Scott) rather than bursting onto the scene and making their mark as a 16 year old like Ruby Pass did, things aren't looking as bright for depth for Australian WAG now as they were a few years ago. We're more waiting for injured veterans to return (Georgia, Emily Whitehead) than for promising juniors to hit 16.

I do feel like all three of our gymnasts going worlds have yet to have their careers peak though. They're a solid core for Australia.

Allegedly FRG only wants to send two WAGs to Worlds. This would not be unusual for them, as the last (and only) time Romania used all 4 spots at a post-Olympic Worlds (since the format changed in 2005) was 2009.

Barbosu/Cosman (NCAA) & Ghigoarta (torn ACL & Meniscus) being out is likely the reasoning, if true.
Are the Romanian NCAAers likely to be out then? I had thought they might be able to combine the two, with worlds being well before the college season starts, and the fed would of course want Barbosu in particular, but you know more about the Romanians than I do.

Yeah, why would Barbosu want to miss out on this Worlds? That's surprising and unfortunate if true!
Lilia is already in the US per MSU's training videos, and I imagine Ana probably just wants to focus on getting settled in to university, a new country & NCAA training without upheaval.

I believe I saw something about Ana saying she only intends to return to elite in 2027.

If the Brown sisters could finally get some luck with their knees, it would help the depth a lot!

Has there been any official word that Barbosu isn't doing worlds? Didn't she originally say that she wasn't doing Euros? ... but then turned up and won a gold, silver and 2 bronze medals.

If the Rom team just sends 2 - will it be Golgota and Voinea?

Cosman is in the US because she is an American citizen and lives in Michigan
I've seen a lot of people (even commentators who should be well researched) assume she lived in the US and just went to Romania periodically for verifications and the big meets like other American country hoppers, which would not have flown at all in Romania. She was a full time resident in the athlete dorms from summer 2022 until leaving for MSU this year (with very short trips home after big meets). If you listen to the two podcasts she did this year it's pretty crazy what she did at such a young age.

Even after the 2024 Olympics she remained in Deva through to the three competitions she attended this year, which is why I thought her already being at MSU was significant regarding her Worlds preparation.

Logically it's Golgota/Voinea, but I think it would be dumb to not send Oprea for UB/BB to get experience with them. UB was the only reason she didn't make 2023 Worlds over Preda, and now that it's her strongest event (due to many ankle injuries) you'd think if healthy next year that she'd be a really key team player AAer for them.
