So in essence they're not really pushing off from the table but using their leg power instead?
They're very much pushing off from the table. The line of "they're only tumbling over the table" that often gets repeated is not accurate. It's just that pushing off primarily from 1 arm allows you to keep the body weight more to one side and twist easier that way.

The 2 point deduction is overly severe. 1 point deduction would be fine.

Stunning start for Blakely. Every handstand so upright, except maybe the last one. And so floaty with great form!
Easily her best of the season, I have 8.7E, but instead gets 8.1...lower than Melninoka, who had worse pirouettes, worse van leeuwen, and her typical wonky bent arm jaeger. Just absolutely fraudulent reputation based judging.

It's not really a deduction, it's a deterrent

Eh, whatever anyone may personally think about her AIN status, they should at respect her gymnastics. I guess a lot of people just want results based on vibes, though.
But the young'uns (read American teenagers) on Reddit have had their expectations raised by the Simone years - they think every American 'woz robbed'!
