It's no different when they're downgrading Lopez to Pod. You know the e panel.took a deduction for piking, then the gymnasts get hit with a d downgrade on top of it.

The whole system is insanity. Absolute fucking insanity. Separate D and E scores have ruined this sport.

Or my personal favorite paradox, the "slow connection" E score deductions on skills that were never given connection bonus by the D panel.

She fell on the vault at selection camp, and it hasn't looked good at all this year.

Falling onto a flimsy pit mat really doesnt count for anything, and no judge ever downgraded her. Yeah it happened and it sucked but i think it's silly pretending like this was something forseeable.

She tucked down for the same reason she fell, which is the same reason so many gymnasts are struggling on this Temu equipment :/

What I can't understand is WHY.

On the MAG side, they screw stuff up plenty, but it's nowhere near this bad. There's not this incessant need to terrorize the athletes with scores that cap out around 8. With the drop to 8 skills, we are now seeing quite a few E-scores above 9.0, and certainly lots in the mid-to-high 8s. The scores make sense.

So it's not an FIG directive. It's a WTC thing. And the judges seem to be complicit -- or even subservient to what they are being told to do. There's no sense of "we don't like this, make it stop".

I don't get it.
