A Thai guy (27 years old, too) made floor finals. He must be so excited!

Aidan Li of Canada made pommel horse finals. He's a Cal athlete.

So that's two NCAA stand-outs in the PH final!

Daniel Marinov (unassociated athlete, but from Russia) made 3 event finals and qualified 4th AA with his bizarre little rings routine.

Many of the other top AAers — except Noe Seifert of Switzerland, who's sitting in 2nd, much to my surprise, honestly — apparently fell somewhere... Hashimoto on floor (and high bar, too??), Zhang Boheng on high bar, Shi Cong on vault, Barajas maybe multiple places?

Some good qualification results for GB - I'm gonna stick my neck out and say we are safe for 5 finals:
FX - Jake
PH - New kid - Yolshin-Cash
SR - Harry
V - Jake - nope!
HB - Joe

Luke (FX) and Courtney (SR) have to see what follows

Can't believe no one has done AA:(
Six in the end. I expect they're fairly pleased with that, albeit nobody saw a GB MAG free vault final coming. Poor Courtney, he was still in 8th place until the very last routine of qualifications!

I thought about this a few years back and I think in 2023 the U.S. men made a significant jump that would keep them up with WAG once Simone retired.
Its not just Simone retiring though. If we had the 2012 Olympic Team -- Gabby, Aly, Jordyn, Kyla and McKayla -- at Worlds this year I do not think we would be thinking the men will medal more than WAG.

Pulling apart the finals/finalists a little.
  • 56 gymnasts made finals (72 total spots available). Of the 22 reserve spots, 10 are filled by gymnasts qualified to at least one final
  • An additional 12 gymnasts were reserves. None of these were reserve for more than one event.
  • Marinov of the cheese rings made most finals: all around, vault, p-bars, high bar.
  • Shi made three finals: all around, p-bars, high bar. Hashimoto and Zhang would have made three without country limits.
  • 11 gymnasts made two finals: Barajas, Hashimoto, Karimi, Meszaros, Minami, Oka, Souza, Tsunogai, Whittenburg, Yulo, Zhang.
Event finalists in all around finals, by event:
  • FX: 1 finalists in AA (+2 reserves in AA)
  • PH: 0 finalists in AA (+1 reserve in AA)
  • SR: 2 finalists in AA
  • V: 1 finalists in AA (+1 reserve in AA)
  • PB: 4 finalists in AA (+two more who were 2-perred in the PB top 8; all 6 were top 12 AA; two reserves were AA finalists)
  • HB: 3 finalists in AA (all three reserves are AA finalists)
Finals by country, in order of number of finals:
  • CHN: six gymnasts, nine finals
  • JPN: four gymnasts, eight finals (all four gymnasts made two finals)
  • AIN (RUS): three gymnasts, six finals
  • GBR: five gymnasts, five finals (sixth gymnast is a reserve)
  • USA: four gymnasts, five finals
  • KAZ: three gymnasts, four finals
  • ARM: three gymnasts, three finals
  • BRA: two gymnasts, three finals
  • CAN: two gymnasts, two finals
  • ESP: two gymnasts, two finals
  • FIN: two gymnasts, two finals

  • THA: one gymnast, one final
  • TUR: one gymnast, one final

That's SUCH a STUPID FUCKING RULE.

First of all, why is there no piked version to downgrade it to? So you bend your hips a bit and it's a loss not only of 0.5 in the E-score but also a loss of about 0.6 for the element (compared to an A they sub in)? That's not ACTUALLY a large error. It should be a 0.1 or 0.2 downgrade. or a 0.1 or max 0.3 deduction. THAT'S IT.

I am not a violent person, but even I want to punch the face of the fucking moron who created that rule. Because that is a REALLY stupid person.
Do it, Denn. I'll post your bail.
