Myli Lew is only doing UB here and she put up 14.050.
She did two Maloneys. Is that a new thing in this code to be able to repeat these elements?

ETA: she did a Chow and Maloney at Winter Cup, so I’m assuming this was a mistake the judges missed. What should the D score actually be with the repeated element? She also had a 4th toe-on skill because of the repeated Maloney.

The DV are :
Ds:
DMT,
Toe-on 360°,
Maloney,
Pak,
Gienger
Jaeger piked

Cs:

0, as the Toe-on 180° is the 4° root of toe-on

Bs:

Cast HS 180°
Giant

DV should = 2,8
All CR are met so 2,0
CV 0,2 (Toe-on 360° + Maloney + Pak)
DMT 0,2 for Double salto BWD stretched

so the D-score should be 5,2

Yikes…that would put her in 6th instead of 1st.

Who knows what Skye looks like, but there is an UB/BB spot that is hers for the taking if she is back to her old level on those two events.

I like Jayla and Claire for AA.

I think Brooks has done a nice job with Roberson so far. I actually like the idea of two DLOs as a placeholder instead of a double pike. It's not like the score at Classics matters and it's asking more of her than a double pike to build endurance. She needs to show up in three weeks with fully fleshed out tumbling and two strong vaults if she wants to go to Jakarta. Not sure what they are going to do if no one shows up with two vaults or a usable floor.

She really just needs to be good enough at Nationals to make the National Team, because that would get her an invite to the Worlds Selection Camp.

Hang and Pease both have two vaults so if no other Americans can beat their VT scores by camp then they could send an UB/BB and someone just for FX. They don’t have to have three vault entrants.

She did the chow at American Classic too. Do you think USAG will acknowledge this?

I feel for Hezly. She had the meet of her life to make the Olympics and will always be an Olympic Gold Medalist. But her gymnastics and where she is in the stage of her development is not ready for the headliner pressure + expectations that being an Olympian brings. Plus, some of the skill selection is dangerous at this point. That bars dismount........ and her vaults have been a knee injury waiting to happen all season. It's a bit alarmist but I just hope she gets to college healthy.

And I dont mean to be a hater but I just dont get it with Roberson gymnastics. Surely the US isn't at the point where that form is a leading contender for World's.

All that work for a paltry 4.9 D score, too. Got hammered on execution and a .3 ND, so only a 11.6

Caylor lost 0.6 in D Score due to landing both feet out of bounds on the double tuck. The subsequent front tuck:

1) Does not receive DV (Not a counting element so no impact on D score)
2) Can not be used to fulfill the forward and backward acro CR (-0.5 CR)
3) Not awarded CV with the double tuck (-0.1 CV)

I agree with what everyone's saying about Hezly. That said, she has the difficulty to compete for an AA spot and the options in the AA are not great at this point. Last year she had a terrible performance across all 4 events at classics and showed up at nationals looking like a different gymnast and we all know what happened from there. I'm not banking on that kind of turnaround but if she can hit her sets by world trials she could still make a case for herself.

Seems like less than smart routine composition.

I don't get it, either. Terrible form, abrupt movements with no extension, no artistry whatsoever. I feel bad about it, too. I was fine with my hatred of Skinner's gymnastics because she is a terrible person, but Josc seems like a perfectly lovely girl. Her gymnastics is just so "clunky", for lack of a better word.

Simone Rose is giving alternate vibes to me. I don't think she'd have any medal chances anywhere. Hang and Pease feel like locks to me (happy for them to do AA) and then you have other bright spots: Wong's new tumbling pass looks great, Roberson with a Cheng will certainly be a story, Rivera is a wildcard, Sullivan could contend on BB/FX, and Hardie is hanging in there with some bright spots for sure, plus of course we haven't seen what Blakely plans to show.

I am baffled that someone pointing out that the winner of an event at this competition may have had her routine’s difficulty evaluation completely botched by the judges seems to be garnering no interest. Is it because Lew isn’t really in the mix for Worlds that people don’t really care?
It wouldn't be the first time the judges got it completely wrong. Alicia Sacramone went to 2006 Worlds missing CR. Granted, now that she's in charge, she should have an eagle eye out for that given her experience.

Shouldn't all the blame be on the judges who were judging bars?

With three events going at once, we don't know if Memmel or Sacramone even saw Lew's routine live. Surely we can't expect them to be judging three routines at once in real time and then what, running up to the judges after the score is posted to tell them they got it wrong? I don't know where it would be written that they can even do that. Only Lew's coach is supposed to be able to dispute Lew's score.

The most they could do is talk to the judges after and point out that they missed it. Maybe that's exactly what they did. Maybe they privately gave Lew's coaches feedback as well. Who knows, it's pointless to announce something like that on social media since the score can't be changed at this point.

One could argue why are we even awarding event medals at all, this is just supposed to be a qualifier for Nationals. None of the AA/EF rankings matter for anything, just the scores themselves for qualification. Lew was already qualified to Nationals on UB, so it didn't affect that.
