Actually, Tiana might be qualified, period. She was a non-traveling replacement athlete.

START LISTS! (scroll down)

Juniors have 5 rotations, with a bye after floor. Meanwhile, seniors will only have 3 events going at a time and no one has the dreaded end-on-beam rotation. Although for some of them, ending on bars might be just as bad.

Leanne Wong is only doing bars and beam. Everyone else is currently slated for AA.

Gabby Hardie is rotating with Pacific Reign. Coincidence? Deliberate?

Josc Roberson and Dulcy Caylor are rotating together. The coaching change at WCC make this a less interesting side plot, though.

Is there any reason why they wouldnt move some juniors into the first senior session?

Is there any possible conceivable route for people who weren't elite gymnasts to apply to commentary jobs??? I mean I'm sure not all of us would be good at it, but surely some of us might be better options than people that are currently being hired. Sorry I wasn't a 16 year old girl forced through the system, but I don't sound like a ferret who's never heard of gymnastics before and can pronounce a name and give astute emotionally intelligent responses to either controversial judging calls, or my coworker interrupting me mid sentence....

I don't believe Blythe Lawrence or Olly Hogben were elite gymnasts.

For NBC specifically, I think they have only had Olympians as on-air analysts for the past 35 years. Schlegel, Daggett, Roethlisberger, Miller, Horton, Liukin, Peszek, Spring, and Hernandez.

Am I missing anyone?

I've done some commentating or casting in the gaming/epsorts world... maybe there's a crossover option somewhere, lol

Comment of the day.

NBC has never made good choices. When they hired someone who wasn't a gymnast, they saddled us with the horrors of John Tesh and Al Trautwig.

I love this. We’ve had a number of gymnasts successfully combine college and elite gymnastics but it would be very cool to see someone combine it with high level coaching
It would be interesting to see how it gets balanced. Say in a couple of years that Hopes gymnast is junior elite and Shilese is back competing. How does one coach the junior during their competition at, say, Classic or Nationals, without sacrificing their own performance in the senior competition?

I doubt she is exclusively coached by Shilese, so one of the other coaches would be on the competition floor with her. The real issue would be if this gymnast makes the national team, because Shilese can’t coach and train at camp!

Looks like I will be everything except maybe the senior 2 session. My husband has decided to surprise me with a weekend away to watch baseball. Lovely gesture, bad timing. So I'm relying on you all the provide detailed commentary!
