FYI, the ticketing website now says tickets for the "sold out" sessions will go on sale again on 6 January.
More tickets were released today. Fair warning - the website is quite frustrating, continual issues with chosen seats actually being unavailable. However I eventually managed to get both AAs and EF day two tickets 🥳

Well remembered! I was too slow off the mark, so it's still just the women's quallies on the Monday for me. Although I'm now supposed to be in Manchester until mid-afternoon on the Sunday, which makes the logistics... interesting.

Hopefully there will be a convenient flight from Manchester airport that evening. Trains in Germany are pretty good if there’s nothing direct. I couldn’t sleep last night and found that I could get there by Eurostar and a change in Frankfurt for only £139. That’s cheaper than an upcoming domestic journey to Portsmouth!

Could we change the title of this thread now please? As the location is now settled. Maybe it could be a 2025 Euros pre competition thread, and then we can start new ones for the various rounds or keep it all on here, whatever the consensus is in May.

On a sort-of related note, the dates for the 2027 Euros in Armenia have just been confirmed, 27 April to 3 May. Not sure EasyJet go to Yerevan.
The main route between Yerevan and Western Europe is the Air France flight to Paris.

I had no idea Yerevan was hosting. It is an amazing city, I would encourage anyone to go. (Although bear in mind that you may need to get a new passport if you have stamps from Turkey or Azerbaijan). I will definitely go if the dates work for me, but we have a lot of flights to Yerevan.

The full format for the mixed team final has been published. Appendix 12 in the work plan appendices zip file linked on this page https://www.europeangymnastics.com/...mens-artistic-europeans-leipzig-ger/downloads

Round 1 - 16 teams, each gymnast competes on one apparatus.

Half the teams are then eliminated

Round 2 - 8 teams, one apparatus again

Teams 1&2 go through to the final, teams 3&4 to the bronze medal final.

No apparatus can be repeated. No scores are carried forward at any stage. If the women vault in rounds 1&2 they only do one vault, in the medal rounds they have to do 2 vaults.

I guess this is intended to maximise the tension. One mistake and you're out. I wonder if it might be a bit dull in terms of strategy though - I think you'd be mad to do beam before the final in this format, and very few people are going to want to do two vaults. The first round might just have 16 vaults on the WAG side.

Some advantage for teams specializing in UB for the women's contribution to mixed team, unless they have some way to normalize scores.

I think it's a mistake not to require every team to cover every apparatus in the qualifying round(s). You're just not comparing like with like.

One elimination round, all apparatus, one final, all apparatus, would be easier to take seriously.

Should be fun though.

I missed the fact that UB isn't included in this competition.

On the other hand, that makes it harder again to take seriously. But since they're at that point, why not just have 12 teams compete against each other on all three of their chosen apparatus. It's the scoring one apparatus against another that seems unserious.

On the other hand, well, go Romania I suppose ...

Some limits on the apparatus seems unavoidable, since everything has to fit into the arena space simultaneously. Not letting MAG vault might be more of a logistics thing, though not insurmountable.

But other things about the format still seem odd. I still think it would make most sense to let countries use the athletes they want. And not to require it to be just one either. There are some pretty high quality specialists, in MAG especially, who could potentially compete in this event if countries were allowed to use multiple athletes but whose events won't match the set ones.

With the news that Andrade is probably dropping floor, and that she's interested in the mixed TF, it would be a shame if she didn't get the opportunity to compete vault and beam for Brazil because the format only allows one WAG and one MAG in the event. Hopefully it evolves by LA.

Some interesting points about the medal rounds:
  • Gymnasts scores will not be released after they perform their exercise, they will be held until the end of the Round and then announced.
  • After each gymnast has competed, the coach in question should make their way to the Inquiry Desk where they will be shown their gymnasts D-Score & Neutral deductions. The coach can then decide on whether they wish to lodge an inquiry or not (FIG protocol around the timing of inquiries applies).
Paris FX EF inspired rules!
