This is too long and it's a little too sluggish in tempo, but I guess some things can be tweaked. Also, they have to FORCE them to be close to each other LOL cause this isn't giving group.

Those of you watching — are you enjoying the competition format? Or is it as bizarre as people predicted? Could it grow on you?

This would be more interesting if they did it like ESPN does NCAA. Have the score tracker on the side and have the next athlete ready to go immediately after the last one finishes. There’s no reason to be sitting here waiting for scores to come up when they can be alternating between MAG and WAG routines.

Or are they already skipping routines? Did they show Casali on HB? They just showed his score. I don’t remember seeing Eder go either.

It’s fully possible they showed it and I just missed it.

Wishing I'd revised by watching a mixed pairs event at some point previously.

They haven't shown Williams on beam either have they? Scored 13.433, over a point down on qualification. Not really the wrong choice in her case, that's still tied with her next highest apparatus from qualifying. But Sweden are out.

I think they went out of order on the last subdivision on purpose so you wouldn’t know who qualified until the end. I remember reading somewhere in all the rules that they aren’t showing any of the scores in the arena until they end of the round.

Maybe they think that adds to the suspense but I prefer following along with the scores as we go.

6 of the top 8 from qualifying went through. The two who didn't - Hungary and Sweden - were also the teams who chose beam (though for Sweden P-Bars didn't go well either). The two lower qualifiers who went through, Norway (12th in qualifying) and Belgium (14th) both used MAG FX + WAG VT, which based on qualification are their best events by a decent margin. (And probably the highest scoring events generally?)
