Everything you need to know about the Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup in Cairo
All eyes on Africa: the continentโs first Olympic champion in gymnastics will make her World Cup return at the sixth and final 2025 FIG World Cup series event from 25-28 April in Cairo (EGY).The sun sets on the World Cups in the shadow of the pyramids, but Kaylia Nemour (ALG) herself may just be getting started. Undefeated on the Uneven Bars in 2024, Nemour has honed in on the All-Around competition post-Paris. In Cairo she is poised to continue extending her dynasty by aiming for finals on multiple apparatus.
She isnโt the only one generating excitement ahead of the event. Paris Olympians Ellie Black (CAN) and Jana Mahmoud (EGY) have both selected Cairo as the site of their World Cup returns. They have chosen well: this World Cupโs sparkly sports presentation has been dazzling the Egyptian capital since its 2021 debut.
Elsewhere, familiar faces like Milad Karimi (KAZ), Artur Davtyan (ARM) and Nazar Chepurnyi (UKR) are likely to make appearances in the final rounds. Thereโs also Hamlet Manukyan (ARM), winner of back-to-back victories on Pommel Horse, who is aiming to make it three in a row. A final faceoff on Womenโs Vault between rankings leader Teja Belak (SLO), Osijek gold medallist Valentina Georgieva (BUL) and the legend who is Oksana Chusovitina (UZB) is also highly anticipated.
Competition schedule: Qualifications on Menโs Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse and Still Rings, as well as Womenโs Vault and Uneven Bars, will take place on 25 April. Qualifications on Womenโs Balance Beam and Floor Exercise, plus Menโs Vault, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar will be on the 26, with apparatus finals on the 27 and 28, respectively.
Will there be a livestream? Yes! Both days of apparatus finals will be streamed live on figtv.sport. Note that geographical restrictions may apply based on media rights sales.
Notable: 2025 World Cup series champions on each apparatus will be official at the close of competition in Cairo, and many of the titles are still to play for. Suspense on the Nile is therefore guaranteed.
