oh yes… she competed a back with a 1/4 twist… I could do that on a low beam and even though I’m the wrong sex, I used to joke it could be named after me

Her left hip isn’t square and she has open hands, her shoulders are about 20 degrees too far forward and her grip of beam is hiding a rear sickled foot.

I was going through old Cottbus videos and I can’t believe I forgot this gymnast. What a shame she retired due to a knee injury, she would have been a great asset for Germany.

Random questions rather than random thoughts…

1) I’m trying to remember who did a pose on beam. Gymnast is in straddle sit (so presumably after a Korbut variation/roll to straddle sit etc) and then arches with one leg bent and one arm up. I expect a number of gymnasts have done something similar (though I have a silver leotard and sharp entry into pose in my head) so all variations welcome.

2) Have any gymnasts recovered from a dislocated ankle?

Li Xue Hong at 2001 Chinese Nationals EF did something similar, but I could not see a leg bend from the camera angle. There’s a video on YouTube, she’s wearing a purple and pink sleeveless leo. Nice routine

Amy Smith in Romanian is Andreea Munteanu. Which I think they’ve had 3 of, grace the national team at different points.
