I thought it was weird it starts that early too. They had the whole day to use, I don’t understand the rush to have both meets over by mid afternoon tomorrow. Why not just mirror the same 1:30p/5p schedule they have for Hopes today? What could possibly be happening at Buckeyes on a Saturday night that they have to clear the gym by 4pm?

Even when they’re trying to jam 8366397 people into Worlds prelims they don’t start at 8am. I guess they’re all used to being at practice that early anyway so it’s not a crisis, it just seems oddly unnecessary.

It's possible they weren't expecting so many elites to register and originally only planned one session. People may have already made flight arrangements for Saturday evening if that was the case.

I really don't think it's some crime against humanity. According to USAG's weekly preview that was posted yesterday, competition doesn't start until 10 am. I'm guessing 8 am is when the doors open for warm ups.

KK also suggested that the start time would be a particular hardship for gymnasts from Pacific Reign, presumably because of the three-hour difference between WA and OH. But athletes who aspire to a career in any elite international sport should learn to cope with different time zones. An assignment in Asia or Australia might require them to compete when it's the dead of night back home.

Never mind that anyone coming for the elite competition arrived Thursday at the latest. Some may have even come on Wednesday, especially if a gym has Hopes and they all traveled together. Elites had training this morning, Hopes were yesterday. No one is flying in tonight and be fully warmed up and ready to compete at 8 am (as was implied on reddit) tomorrow morning.

I’m pretty convinced that OftheSea95 is also KK. Both of them are always in the same thread arguing the same points, with the same tone and delusion.

It’s so funny watching people who have clearly never been an athlete or coach know what’s best for gymnasts.
OftheSea95 also has some bizarre, creepy obsession with Reese Esponda being the next coming of Simone.

Slightly off topic but also speaking of Reddit, the way they talk about Alexis Jeffrey is appalling, and people's degree of commitment to their narrative about a situation we know about 1% of just galls me. I doubt that even having Deanna Hong weigh in to tell people that their narrative is inaccurate will change much. I know that the internet in general has an issue with nuance, but god, it's just so weird there.

Admittedly I never followed that story closely, and didn't feel qualified to post much on the issue, but I'm always surprised how often it gets brought up when there's so little material to work with. It's generally people who weren't there arguing about what happened, without any new information.

At least with You Know Who there are a lot of legitimate gymnastics discussions to be had, she had a long career spanning various interesting things, multiple 50/50 calls and the like. If we wanted to start a new thread every day for a fortnight relating to some aspect of her career, it'd be easy enough, and that's before considering any of the, erm, extra-curriculars. Not so Alexis Jeffrey.
