I was most active ob Gymworld and met several posters on trips to Europe, most much younger than me and my husband. I was a lurker on GGMB but met them during events here and there. Does anyone remember a poster named DianeKatie? We would email each other from time to time but I have since lost touch and don’t remember the email I was using at the time. She had a son at least and two brothers, one who passed away from stomach cancer.

Also, is WenShudi here? She was a professor of Asian Studies/Swimmer and Chinese gymnastics expert.

I very occasionally posted on gymworld and I lurked on ggmb (not sure I ever posted). Did not appreciate the drama there, but it was the best place for info about US gymnastics. I then migrated to wwgym and now I lurk here. :) I don't even remember my usernames from previous boards - it was that long ago.

I am still sufficiently interested in gymnastics to want to know what's going on, but not sufficiently invested anymore to get into serious discussions on most things. Also, for privacy reasons, I never stay logged in anywhere, so if I do want to reply, I need to log in specifically to do so, and I usually then decide it's not that important.

I do greatly appreciate all the info the knowledgeable posters here are providing though!

I am also currently loving the book synopses, though the Dutch one was a tough read and I don't think I can cope with the Romanian one...

I had left the board for a few years in the mid-2010s owing to a gymfan hiatus. I just remember coming back and finding all these posts in all caps, and everyone else going "you need to STOOOPPPPP!".

ETA: somehow I had her pegged as a large man, but I've been told the same about myself so there you go. It's easy to get people wrong online.

I've been around since OOBN (late 90s? I think I started posting when I was like 14 years old) and usually posted as "Mincho" back then, and even into the earlier version of this board. I've met many of you at meets over the years too and have been chatting with some of you for longer than the duration of most of my adult friendships. Definitely crazy to step back and think about that.

I lurked on OOBN, but found a home at GGMB in my late teens. I know I was just old enough to join when they went 18+. I think I posted regulary enough that a few people might remember me, and I never had any issues with anyone. Only briefly met a couple of people at a meet one time. I actually didn't know about a lot of the things mentioned in this thread because I would see drama starting up and if it got heated I'd walk away and come back later. I was there mostly for gymnastics and lighthearted inside jokes. I did see some of the bullying, though, especially near the end, and even though my experience there was good I completely undertstand why so many people found it to be a toxic environment. I joined here right away, but never really came around until a year or two ago. I wish I'd done it sooner. There are some people from the early days who were really awesome, and it is nice to see several of them here.

OOBN!!!!!

I was gymnastboy81, that's how I met Gogean (aka Denn) before I found my way to WWGYM.

I was also on American Gymnast (Jay Thornton/ Stephen McCain) message board, also GymWorld, GTTC, GGMB/GymScoop-most lurked as Betty (Brandon) was a dick. I met him once at a meet and he was a complete asshole that I thought "never again".

Yes Rich (irichluck21), I know that you were gymnastboy81 at OOBNess. I remember you from OOBNess.

I also know that Denn was Gogean.

Good times ! Happy days !

I was on OOBN but have very little memory of specific users, aside from Skitch, a woman named Peridot who was really into Blaine Wilson and reminds me a bit of kitty from IGF, and Rick Perrozzi, whose son was Atler's webmaster (we exchanged VHS tapes). I don't even remember my own username.

From there I migrated to IGF, then to wwgym, then here. With occasional Reddit escapades. Sasha has been my long-term gymternet name, with the exception of OOBN and Reddit.

I have some tapes from Rick as well that I keep thinking I need to find.
